About Oakes Barn

Oakes Barn is an independent, local business,  where customers are made to feel welcome and can enjoy an atmosphere of a pub with values and a friendly team of staff. We pride ourselves by buying local produce as well as well as using national favourites.

We provide a space and a platform to numerous community groups that are free and that anyone can come along to. We are located just outside the historical medieval grid, and our building is steeped in local history that we embrace.

Since opening in 2013, We have been featured in the Good Beer Guide and have been the winner of town pub, community pub from CAMRA and various other local awards. We are also actively involved in the Bury St. Edmunds Ale Trail and support the local Business Improvement District. We are a place for events and parties, offering a hands-on, often bespoke service.

We proudly sponsor our local sporting teams and several local charities by hosting regular fundraising events and offering them prime spots on the bar for collection pots. Furthermore, during the recent lockdowns, the team raised over £1000 and walked 1000 miles for our local hospice, St  Nicholas.
